Door Community Auditorium Artist Spotlight: Steve March Tormé

The Door Community Auditorium Artist Spotlight debuts with an interview featuring vocalist Steve March Tormé. He will be performing onstage in Fish Creek on Friday, December 30, 2011. Tormé, the son of Jazz legend Mel Tormé, has blazed his own path in the music industry. His repertoire includes Jazz vocals, Broadway and pop tunes as well as original compositions. Listen in as Steve shares his life in music with Barbara Luhring. Don’t miss this show. Barbara Luhring talks with Door County author (and master fisherman) Rob Zoschke about his new book of poetry, Made in America. Life has transitioned for Rob since the publication of his last book Door County Blues. Marriage, fatherhood and an overall “settling in” amongst his surroundings has occurred. A Conversation with Door County’s own Miss Wisconsin, Kimberly Sawyer


Barbara Luhring has known Kimberly Sawyer for most of her life and during that time Kimberly has always been a star. A star athlete (3 sport letter winner at Gibraltar High School), a star performer in plays and in choir as well as a star student. On January 15 of next year she will have the chance to shine yet again as she competes in the Miss America Pageant in Las Vegas as Door County’s own Miss Wisconsin. Barbara talks with Kimberly about the experience and about the benefit show she is putting on at the Door Community Auditorium on Saturday, December 18 with a cast of many. The show will benefit all the non-profit groups that helped her get where she is today. Listen in!

Barbara Luhring talks with Door County author Rob Zoschke about his latest book Door County Blues. The book was  Published  In Heaven, author Ron Whitehead’s publishing imprint. Of Robert Zoschke’s work author Norbert Blei calls it a “maniacal monological mélange of words.” What does Zoschke say about his life before and during Door? What does he say about Door County Blues, an autobiographical mix of short stories, essays, letters and poetry? Listen in and find out!

Door County artist and musician Jeanne Kuhns talks with Barbara Luhring about her summer concert series that is switching venues for 2009. The series outgrew the wonderful Town Hall Bakery in Jacksonport, and has found a new home at the Woodwalk Gallery in Egg Harbor. Jeanne has a diverse group of talented musicians making their way to Egg Harbor every Friday night this summer. She talks about the schedule and the beautiful music that will be filling the barn which was lovingly restored by Margaret Lockwood and Allin Walker.

Jeanne also talks about her son Eli Mattson and his music career that took off after his runner-up finish on America’s Got Talent.

Woodwalk Gallery is home to Margaret’s original oil paintings and their gallery featuring over 40 artists.
